Man Utd are currently on their worst winless run in more than four decades, but Amad is “so excited” despite the situation.
Of all the players in the Man Utd squad, perhaps only Amad is someone, especially among the attackers, who can’t be faulted for a lack of effort.
He has missed chances, but he constantly looks to make things happen with the ball at his feet instead of playing scared and toothless.
His efforts haven’t been enough to get Michael Carrick out of the rut at Man Utd, but it has still left the Ivorian “so excited” for what’s ahead.
Amad is “so excited” for what’s next at Man Utd
A general theme at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson retired is that extreme lows have always been followed by extreme highs.
The number of false dawns Man Utd fans have had to endure is tiresome, but when that dawn does come, it almost always brings a sweeping wave of euphoria.
That is what Carrick’s interim spell did last season, and Amad is convinced that the current difficult predicament will give way to a renewed feeling of optimism soon.
Posting on his Instagram stories, Amad said, “The tough days weigh heavily on us, but they will never erase what unites us. The joy of winning again will be even stronger than waiting for it together. I’m so excited.”
Needless to say, platitudes like these are unlikely to soothe the fan sentiment that has grown tired of being taken for a ride and then left in the middle of nowhere.
However, Amad is one of the few players who have a leg to stand on when he says it, because his own effort levels have never dipped, nor has he sent passive-aggressive hints of frustration.
Ultimately, the proof of the pudding will be in the eating, and right now, no words will calm down a fanbase that has checked out mentally.
