12 Dribbles, 20 Duels won: £105m Manchester United target delivers big performance

Manchester United’s interest in Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani has been pushed over the past week.

German newspaper Bild, also reported by The Mail linked Manchester United with a £105 million move.

Muani starred at the World Cup for France, scoring in the semi-final, and also seeing last gasp shot saved by Emiliano Martinez in the final against Argentina.

The forward is enjoying a very impressive season at Frankfurt, who he signed for last summer from Nantes.

Kolo Muani shows his quality

Muani was in action at the weekend for Frankfurt against Bundesliga surprise package Union Berlin.

While he did not manage to get on the scoresheet in a 2-0 defeat for his side, Muani was the best player on the pitch.

He completed a staggering 12 dribbles and won 20 duels as part of a mesmeric performance leading the line, let down only by poor finishing.

Muani created three goalscoring chances for his side, on an off day where Frankfurt failed to convert.

Across the season as a whole, the French striker has enjoyed a productive campaign. He has scored 16 goals and provided 10 assists.

Muani could be expensive risk for United

It is not a surprise to see Manchester United linked to a player of Muani’s ability and potential. The 24-year-old is enjoying a prolific season and even when he is not scoring, he is a big dangerman to have on the pitch.

The problem is at a reported price tag of £100 million plus, Muani represents a risk larger than one United would like it to be.

Harry Kane would cost a similar figure, and with the England forward, you know exactly what you are getting, a player who has proven repeatedly he can cut it in the Premier League.

Muani falls into a similar category to Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos, who are both young exciting and prolific strikers, without a strong body of work entering this current season.

A more realistic price for both players would be around £40 million. But Manchester United are going to discover this summer that finding a top striker for cheap, is no easy task.
