18 goal 13 assist star wants 'Manchester United move' only

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United.

As improbable as a move may seem, Neymar is again being touted for a summer transfer to Manchester United.

The latest reports stem from French website Footmercato, with more action appearing to be coming from Neymar’s end than United’s.

The report states Neymar is keen on Manchester United and it is the only club he is willing to leave PSG for.

He is not tempted by a proposal to switch to the Saudi Pro League, even though he has received a strong financial offer.

Neymar scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists this season before his campaign was ended in February through injury.

Neymar move unlikely

It is unlikely Manchester United move to sign Neymar this summer, even if he were to be made available on a loan.

Neymar would be an expensive ‘quick fix’ solution for United who would not solve the club’s long-standing problem up front.

Talksport pundit Ally McCoist dismissed the prospect of any Premier League club going after Neymar, stating: “I’m not sure it’s a circus but there’s certainly baggage. It might be a circus to be brutally honest the more I think about it. You don’t need all the baggage that comes with it.”

BBC Sport reported in 2017 that PSG paid a staggering £200 million to sign Neymar from Barcelona at the time.

French newspaper L’Equipe claimed earlier this month that there were talks between United and PSG over Neymar.

However, Sky Sports offered some clarification, stating United were one of a number of clubs approached by intermediaries on behalf of Neymar.

The report added: “He is not currently a United target.”

If it is right that he has set his sights on a potential move to Manchester United, as claimed by Footmercato, then he is likely to be disappointed.
