'Get him': Ben Foster says Manchester United should pay £60m to sign star with 'pure graft'

Ben Foster has given his view on Mason Mount’s potential move to Manchester United.

The former goalkeeper believes Mason Mount would be an excellent addition for Manchester United this summer.

The Athletic reported last week that Mount is eager to leave Chelsea and views Manchester United as his preferred choice.

The Chelsea midfielder’s contract is set to expire in 2024, which will likely cause Chelea to have to cash in.

Ben Foster on Mason Mount

Ben Foster has told the United Stand he would support a Red Devils move to sign Mason Mount this summer.

He said he also believes it may open up the possibility of a move for Declan Rice too.

He said: “I like Mason Mount. It’s inevitable he is going to go. It’s a strange one for me, if I was Chelsea, I’m playing Mason Mount in the majority of games.

“He’s the sort of players you need in midfield. He will give you pure graft and work rate. Those are the player you need.

“If you could get him for £50 million £60 million, get him through the door. That opens the door for Declan Rice as well. Imagine getting them two, that’s a big boost.”

Declan Rice is close friends with Mason Mount, going back to their time at the Chelsea academy together.

The Mail reported last week that United remain interested in West Ham midfielder Declan Rice along with Mount, raising the possibility of a double deal.

But this seems impossible to do from a financial perspective, as well as signing a striker, which could cost more than either midfielder.

So while we could see a deal for Mount getting done, signing Rice too seems far less likely, despite their connection.
