Manchester United move on to 80 million star after Mason Mount bid rejected

Manchester United are set to ‘move on’ to focus on Moises Caicedo instead of Mason Mount, according to a report.

After a third bid was rejected by Chelsea for Mason Mount, Manchester United are reportedly fed up with the Blues’ negotiating strategy.

The Times reports United believe Chelsea are operating unreasonably with United, over a player who wants to leave and has only one year left on his contract.

The most recent offer was worth £55 million, with Chelsea seeking £65 million.

Moises Caicedo chased by Manchester United

The report from The Times claims Manchester United will now ‘move on’ to focus on alternatives to Mason Mount.

Top of the list is Moises Caicedo, who Brighton want around £80 million for, it is claimed.

While it may seem odd for United to chase a more expensive player, Caicedo only recently signed a contract extension with Brighton earlier this year.

Manchester United strategy explained

Manchester United are desperate not to be taken advantage of in the transfer market, with past mistakes coming back to haunt the club.

In an effort to draw the line, with the recent third bid for Mount claimed to be the last offer, United are aiming to stick to their word.

We are sceptical. Is the Mount deal really dead? Don’t bet on it.

The Moises Caicedo rumour may be true, however, we noted the other day that this is exactly what Chelsea don’t want Manchester United to do, because they want to use the Mount money to sign the Ecuador international.

While United are trying to take a stand over price, it’s also a little odd to so, while now looking to pat £80 million for a player in Caicedo, who the club famously could have signed for just £5 million in 2021.

Let’s see how this one shakes out. While it is good to see the club refuse to be taken advantage of and pay ridiculous fees, we still kind of expect United to buckle and pay up anyway.

But if we do get Caicedo, that could end up being a far better deal than the one for Mount, even if it is more costly, as he is a more well-rounded player.
