Manchester United duo Youri Tielemans and Senne Lammens played a key role in Belgium’s UEFA Nations League win over Turkiye.
Belgium got back to winning ways on Friday night with a 3-0 win over Turkiye, after losing against Zinedine Zidane’s France earlier this week. Marco van Bommel named Manchester United duo Youri Tielemans and Senne Lammens in his starting line-up.
The international break has been a mixed bag for Michael Carrick and United. Bruno Fernandes recovered from a knock to star in Portugal’s 4-2 win over Denmark, while Patrick Dorgu returned to Carrington after sustaining a knock while representing his country.
There were two more United players involved in UEFA Nations League action on Friday. Here’s a look at how Tielemans and Lammens fared against Turkiye.

It was a good night for Belgium, as they overcame Turkiye’s challenge to win 3-0. United fans will be happy too because Lammens and Tielemans escaped without any injury setbacks.
Lammens kept a clean sheet after a busy night between the posts, though he didn’t look troubled by any of the eight shots he faced, with most coming from distance. The 23-year-old stopper is getting a chance to stake a claim to become Belgium’s first-choice goalkeeper. He continued to show why he is the favourite to replace Thibaut Courtois in the national team.

Tielemans, who signed for United in the summer, received a yellow card in the 29th minute for a late tackle. It was a deserved booking after taking the legs from under his opponent, and Turkiye hit the crossbar from the consequential free kick.
The 29-year-old linked up brilliantly with De Bruyne in the 59th minute when he won the ball back at the edge of the box. Tielemans nicked the ball away from a Turkiye defender and teed up a shot for the former Man City star to make it 2-0.
Less than 10 minutes later, Tielemans had the ball at his feet in a similar position. This time he tested the goalkeeper with a shot of his own, although Romelu Lukaku was unlucky not to get on the end of the rebound.
