Club president suggests bitter rivals are likely to beat Man Utd to 'well-balanced' £34m ace - he could be the next Casemiro

Liverpool are looking ever the more likely to complete the signing of Andre from Fluminense, despite him being on Manchester United’s radar.

According to Emmanuel Luiz, who is a transfer specialist for Brazil, over the summer transfer window, United approached Andre’s camp over a move to Old Trafford.

This was before the signing of Sofyan Amrabat, but Andre would also be a good investment for the future, with the Brazilian only 21 years old.

However, much like in the summer, it appears he has his heart set on Liverpool, with the Fluminese club president suggesting that a deal with the Reds could be taking place in the January transfer window.

Andre looks Liverpool-bound in January

Via Fabrizio Romano, here is what the Brazilian club’s president had to say regarding the situation.

Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt stated: “Liverpool contacted me directly for André. I told their director: My friend, I don’t sell André now. If you want to buy now to bring him in January, we can start talking”

Bittencourt essentially confirmed that if Liverpool were to have a pre-agreed deal with the club, he could leave in January. He then went on to say how he doesn’t mind if they want to leave it for now, and then negotiate nearer the time.

“Or if you want to wait until December, we can do it,” Bittencourt states.

There is still potential for a United hijack, but with Sofyan Amrabat’s arrival, United will probably look to fill other positions first rather than a midfielder.

Another major factor is also the money. It’s believed that Andre has £34m release clause, that Liverpool could trigger to get their man. United, to put it bluntly, do not have the funds.

It’s a shame, he could be the next Casemiro

The young midfielder is on the radar of two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs for a reason.

In a detailed scouting report on Total Football Analysis – the summary of Andre was as follows:

‘If there is one word to describe André Trindade, it is well-balanced. In possession, the 21-year-old’s astute decision-making makes the most out of a balanced passing ability and a technical dribbling ability.’

‘Out of possession, André is both intense and effective, able to compose an aggressive pressing system in addition to defending deep.’

As a deep-lying Brazilian playmaker, we can’t help but draw comparisons to Casemiro. The report also stated that Andre ‘leads the next generation of Brazilian midfielders’, so when Casemiro does retire – maybe Andre will fill the void in the national side.

Liverpool look to have a decent player on their hands. A shame for United.
