Manchester United face Newcastle in the Carabao Cup next week and Eddie Howe’s side have been dealt a blow.
Next Wednesday night will see Manchester United host Newcastle in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
It is a rematch of last season’s Carabao Cup final, which Manchester United won 2-0 at Wembley.
Newcastle later exacted a small measure of revenge by beating United 2-0 in the Premier League at St James’ Park, but still finished below Erik ten Hag‘s side.

Alexander Isak ruled out
Newcastle have been dealt a major injury blow for the fixture with star striker Alexander Isak ruled out.
The £63 million forward has suffered a groin injury and the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope reports he faces missing the next five games and won’t return until after the November international break.
Winger Jacob Murphy suffered an injured shoulder against Borussia Dortmund, The Mail reports, and will also miss the Manchester United game next week.
Newcastle lost the match 1-0 with former Manchester United loan midfielder Marcel Sabitzer starring.
Manchester United face Newcastle in the Premier League in early December away from home, by which point Isak is expected to be back.
The Sweden international striker has scored seven goals in 10 domestic league and cup games this season for Newcastle.
Tough matches for Manchester United
Two tough home matches are upcoming for Manchester United, at home to City in the Premier League and then Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.
Our home form has not been as immaculate this season as last, and the players will have to raise their games as the level of opponents increase.
It helps that Newcastle may be without a couple of key players, but Manchester United are dealing with a severe injury crisis too, particularly at full-back.
The Isak injury certainly isn’t an advantage for Manchester United, although it might level the playing field somewhat.
