Former Manchester United winger and footballing icon David Beckham has given a rather surprising update about the current takeover situation at Old Trafford.
The Glazer Family shows no sign of finally making their minds up over whether to sell the club but David Beckham has given a rather encouraging update about the takeover situation.
The mood around Manchester United over the international break is set to improve drastically after that 2-1 victory over Thomas Frank’s Brentford at Old Trafford.
A late Scott McTominay double was enough for the victory and that may not be the only good news on the horizon.
Beckham provided ownership update
Speaking to Sky Sports News in the aftermath of United’s stunning 2-1 comeback victory in the afternoon, Beckham was asked for his thoughts on the current ownership situation and made a surprising revelation.
“We want stability and I believe I know the right people to take Manchester United back to the top,” the former United winger said when asked about the situation.
When the interviewer from Sky pressed the Englishman for an explanation about what he meant, he asked if Sheik Jassim, the Qatari billionaire vying for total control of the club, was the man he was referring to.
Beckham, in response, smiled and said: “We’ll see.”
Is there an end in sight
The openness of Beckham’s response and the revelation that he knows the right people is bound to get the fanbase giddy with excitement, but this wouldn’t be the first false dawn about the American family’s attempts to sell the club, and it probably won’t be the last.
It does seem that Beckham has some knowledge of the situation and knows the right people to take over the club but United fans can only sit on their hands and wait.
An update on the near-year search for new owners is certainly needed soon as the fanbase has sort of been left in the dark due to the lack of communication, some things never change.
