Man United fans spotted what Alejandro Garnacho did right before Copenhagen penalty, and absolutely loved it

Manchester United fans were loving one thing they noticed during the Red Devils’ vital 1-0 win over FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United were on the verge of a victory but a poor decision from Scott McTominay, with his high boot, was deemed as a foul in the box.

After the hosts worked so hard to strike first in the nervy group stage encounter, a silly swipe from McTominay gave the Danish side a chance to steal a point and potentially subject United to Europa League football in February.

However, Andre Onana kept it out and that moment brought sheer joy and euphoria for the fans who have had to suffer a lot.

However, the United fans noticed something before the kick.

Garnacho scuffs the penalty spot

During the VAR check of the penalty award, the camera above the penalty spot caught Alejandro Garnacho scuffing the penalty spot before Jordan Larsson had the chance to take it.

Clearly, supporters were loving it.

The penalty, which didn’t seem to be struck as firmly as Larsson would have liked, was kept out brilliantly by the Cameroon goalkeeper and that could be the moment he has been waiting for.

It was the Argentine’s scuffing of the spot that could be the moment that kickstarted the Red Devils’ season.

These are the dark arts that make a difference. And United needed every little trick in the book.

Garnacho’s cameo

Not only did the winger potentially assist Onana with the saving of the penalty but the youngster certainly made an impact when he was brought on from the bench.

The winger, unlike Antony, added guile and directness to the United attack and the Red Devils looked much more potent on the counter-attack when he was introduced.

Garnacho seems to only make an impact from the bench as his direct style as a wide man seems to be suited to coming on for the final half an hour of a game.

It could be argued that Garnacho, who created the winning goal against Manchester City last season from the bench, starts from the bench to try to repeat the trick on Sunday.

Although, the tantalising option of starting him over Marcus Rashford must be on Ten Hag’s mind.
