There is positive news concerning young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo as he bids to make his comeback.

Kobbie Mainoo trained in full with Manchester United’s first team on Thursday, the club website has confirmed.

The report described Mainoo as bidding ‘to regain full fitness’. He is pictured below in a rainy session at Carrington.

Mainoo, 18, has been out with an injury sustained in pre-season in USA against Real Madrid.

Kobbie Mainoo closes in on return

Kobbie Mainoo was pictured training with the first team squad earlier in October before the Champions League tie with Galatasaray.

However, he was not ready to feature in a behind closed doors friendly match against Barnsley last week.

There was no setback, with United simply being cautious over the teenager’s impending return.

Mainoo’s presence in full first team training yesterday suggests he is on the right track.

The injury suffered by Casemiro which has ruled him out out the weekend match against Sheffield United will have many United fans dreaming of Mainoo slotting straight in.

However, the best case scenario is probably Mainoo making the substitute’s bench and being eased back into first team action.

Mainoo is a special talent

FA Youth Cup winner Mainoo is a special talent who made his first team debut for Manchester United at the age of 17.

He started United’s first four pre-season matches, before his injury against Real Madrid.

The teenager was primed to make a proper first team breakthrough this season, and that can still happen, it’s only a matter of time.
