'He's fuming'... Rio Ferdinand comments on Bruno Fernandes' reaction to teammate in 87th minute

Rio Ferdinand has given his reaction to Anthony Martial’s big chance towards the end of Manchester United’s 3-3 draw against Galatasaray.

Manchester United’s unhappy Champions League fate is pretty much secure now unless they can beat Bayern Munich and hope FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray draw.

Things could have been so different for Erik ten Hag’s side but a goalkeeping error from Andre Onana turned the tide back in the Turkish side’s favour and they eventually got the equaliser.

For the majority of the final 20 minutes of the game, after the equalising goal from the Turkish side, the Red Devils had four or five chances to win the game but they fluffed their lines.

Martial’s miss

One chance, in particular, drew the ire of Rio Ferdinand who was becoming more and more frustrated on TNT Sports commentary.

After Anthony Martial was played in down the left-hand side of the penalty box, the Frenchman, instead of shooting on his left foot, elected to cut inside but fluffed his lines.

Ferdinand, frustrated that Martial didn’t shoot, predicted what Bruno Fernandes, who was open for the cutback, said to the French forward: “He’s fuming. He’s saying Martial should have done better or laid it on a plate for him and he’s right.”

It’s hard to disagree with the former United defender it was a truly guilt-edged chance for the former AS Monaco forward but, unlike during United’s 3-0 win over Everton, he couldn’t take it.

United’s profligacy

United’s struggles to find the back of the net couldn’t have been more apparent in the final knockings of the game as the Red Devils could have easily won 6-3 if they had been more clinical.

Unlike the Everton game, United were not clinical enough in the final third and should have really scored a lorry load of goals in the contest.

United can still qualify for the round of 16 in the Champions League but would have to beat Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich and just hope results go their way.

There is still hope for the Red Devils but that slim chance of qualifying is fading.
