Manchester United are rejecting any proposals coming their way from agents looking to offer them a manager, in the club’s latest show of faith in Erik ten Hag.
After a shaky month including back-to-back 3-0 home defeats, Erik ten Hag was coming under pressure Old Trafford. But a narrow, albeit deserved, 1-0 win over Luton Town on Saturday has cooled some of the speculation.
The defeat against FC Copenhagen was another blow, but Manchester United have so far stood strong and have backed the 53-year-old.
A report from ESPN has taken that further with United’s latest show of faith in the former Ajax boss.
United reject agents’ proposals
The report states that United chiefs have become frustrated by attempts by agents to push coaches into the running for Ten Hag’s position.
According to the report, the representative of a well-known manager, who is out of work, had a scheduled meeting cancelled because of concerns the conversation would focus on the potential uncertainty surrounding the manager’s job.
Who this could be can be speculated, but nevertheless, it seems within the corridors of power at Old Trafford, United are backing their man.
The Glazer family, and you would assume Sir Jim Ratcliffe, believe that progress has been made in the past week despite the frustrating defeat to FC Copenhagen at Parken. United still rank sixth in the Premier League.
Ratcliffe’s decision
The report does go on to say that jobs at all levels of the club are said to be uncertain with Ineos set to complete their 25 per cent purchase of United later this month.
Sir Dave Brailsford, a key member of INEOS, who is set to take a seat on the board, reportedly visited Carrington today according to the Daily Star.
Either way, it seems that Ten Hag’s job at Old Trafford is safe for now, and he will be looking to put together a run of victories to really assure the fanbase the team is heading in the right direction.
