Man Utd fans all saying same thing about superb player’s ‘elite mentality’ after Galatasaray draw

Manchester United fans are in awe at Harry Maguire’s ‘elite’ mentality and ‘redemption arc’ after his performance against Galatasaray on Wednesday evening in the Champions League.

Erik ten Hag’s men travelled to Istanbul for their crucial Champions League tie, having suffered a shock 4-3 defeat to FC Copenhagen earlier this month.

Maguire has seen a stunning turnaround at United this season after losing the captain’s armband to Red Devils teammate Bruno Fernandes last summer.

The 30-year-old ex-United skipper was heavily linked with a move to West Ham last summer, but Maguire remained at Old Trafford and fought for his first-team place.

Maguire has climbed the pecking order and established himself as a regular starter in the absence of Lisandro Martinez, who is currently sidelined due to injury.

Ten Hag has even preferred Maguire ahead of Raphael Varane, who is linked with a move away, and started him alongside Victor Lindelof for the Galatasaray clash.

United fans rave about Maguire’s ‘elite’ mentality

Maguire impressed during the trip to Rams Park, with the United centre-back protecting Andre Onana with a sensational clearance off the line in the first half.

United fans took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and praised Maguire for his performance, with the England defender winning over supporters.

“Maguire’s mentality is eliteeee! [sic] To recover from the ruins, abuses and public mockery, I hope he speaks about it soon publicly,” one fan said.

Another added: “Truly, Maguire deserves respect. He is redeeming himself, great guy, TBH.”

“Maguire’s confidence has improved. Love [it] for him,” a third posted.

While a fourth tweeted: “I’ve not been buying into it for the last couple of weeks, but I think we actually do have prime Maguire.”

Someone else commented: “The respect for Maguire has to be as loud as the disrespect for Maguire.”

A sixth wrote: “Harry Maguire is our best defender and nobody will tell me otherwise.”

And a seventh said: “You have to respect Maguire’s redemption and drive to keep trying, might have the best mentality in football.”

Maguire steps up when Ten Hag needs him

Maguire was often the target of criticism after his form dramatically dipped, but the former Leicester City man has truly redeemed himself at United this season.

Despite staying at United when the summer window closed, Maguire’s long-term future was plunged into doubt and it would seem that Ten Hag would offload him.

But the England international has continued to push forward with his redemption arc at United and is silencing his critics with each and every performance.

Maguire’s place in the starting XI can no longer be questioned, with Ten Hag’s decision now being who he partners alongside him for a United match.

When the Ghanaian politician who previously mocked Maguire apologised to the United defender this month, it’s time to finally put some respect on his name.
