Manchester United’s pre-match coverage against Chelsea welcomed a surprise guest at Old Trafford.
Ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Chelsea, TV personality Jeremy Clarkson was interviewed as a surprise guest on MUTV.
Clarkson, a Chelsea supporter, was in attendance as a guest of Amazon Prime, the match broadcaster, in promotion with his show Clarkson’s Farm.
This led to an entertaining and unfiltered live interview on MUTV, with host Zarah Connolly.
Old Trafford ‘better’
Jeremy Clarkson is more used to attending games at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge. And while Manchester United’s Old Trafford has taken a reputational battering recently due to a lack of major investment from the Glazers, he feels Manchester United’s ground is more enjoyable to attend.
Clarkson puts this down to one key reason, the food.
He said: “It’s so much better than Stamford Bridge, the restaurant here… whoever runs the restaurant at Stamford Bridge needs a smacked bottom.”
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly may need to open his chequebook to sort that out…
Clarkson’s press conference dig
Manchester United banned certain reporters from Erik ten Hag‘s pre-match press conference this week, unhappy with the process leading to negative coverage.
Clarkson took a jab at this on MUTV, commenting: “It’s difficult to know what’s going on at United because you can’t go to the press conferences.”
He went on to say he is predicting a 5-4 victory for Chelsea, before suggesting he would be travelling down to London with Manchester United supporters after the game, a joke which fell pretty flat.
Manchester United’s line-up for the fixture has been announced, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial dropping to the substitute’s bench.
