Manchester United’s U16 side beat Liverpool on Saturday afternoon 5-3 with Amir Ibragimov scoring a stunner.
The Manchester United academy is thriving right now, with the U18s on fire and various prospects breaking into the first team this season.
Now, the U16s have impressed for the academy as they beat Liverpool in a high-scoring 5-3 win on Saturday at Carrington.
In the game, Majid Balogun and Louie Bradbury were both among the goals but it was Amir Ibragimov who caught the eye, thanks to an immaculate free-kick he scored.
Ibragimov is thought of highly at Carrington – having trained with the first team already – and is considered among the finest prospects currently developing through the ranks as he should be knocking on the U18 door fairly soon.

Ibragimov is a massive talent, and he’s once more showcased this after his goal against Liverpool. Ibragimov scored a delightful freekick which he struck perfectly under the Liverpool wall and into the bottom corner.
He posted a video of the goal on his Instagram account after the game. The video was accompanied by a message which United fans will love.
He wrote: “Love scoring against the scousers”, which demonstrates how aware he is of the fanbase and clearly loves the club.
United teammates send their messages to Ibragimov
Under his post, a few of his teammates sent him messages of their own.
Firstly, Tyler Fletcher wrote: “I’ve been teaching you well”, in relation to the goal and perhaps the message to Liverpool based on the fact his Dad is United through and through.
Another message was from Louie Bradbury who wrote: “That’s my boyyyy”.
Exciting times are ahead for United with this whizkid, we can’t wait to see what kind of year he has in 2024.
