Van de Beek talks Cristiano Ronaldo

Van de Beek was unveiled in Germany at a press conference yesterday, and such is the global attention that follows his former teammate around, the Dutchman was quizzed about his time with Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.

He explained that he learned from the Portuguese superstar, who left Manchester United at the end of 2022.

Van de Beek told Hessenschau: “Ronaldo is very professional and a role model for everyone. That helps when you train with players who have achieved a lot.”

The Dutchman may have learned under Ronaldo, but he has not had the time on the pitch to put it all into practice.

He suffered a bad injury in the middle of last season against Bournemouth which meant he missed the second half of the campaign and both Cup finals.

Van de Beek feeling positive

Van de Beek is confident he is in good physical condition despite a lack of game time. He has stayed fit and trained regularly, even though he has played just 21 minutes of football this season so far.

Asked about his best position, Van de Beek explained, “the eight or ten position will be my best position.”

He could make his unofficial Frankfurt debut in a friendly this Friday before the Bundesliga resumes the following week.

The Manchester United loanee says he has had a good feeling from manager Dino Toppmöller, commenting: “He told me what role he saw me in. I immediately had a good feeling.”
