How Hannibal Mejbri fared on his La Liga debut for Sevilla, he made an immediate impact

Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri was in action last night in La Liga for the very first time for Sevilla.

It is a under a week since Hannibal Mejbri sealed his loan move from Manchester United to Sevilla.

The Tunisia international is aiming to further his career with regular first team football, and could even convince the Spanish side to buy him permanently.

In the first half of the season Hannibal made four starts for Manchester United, scoring once, featuring a further five times as a substitute.

Hannibal Mejbri booked one minute into Sevilla debut

Hannibal was named on the substitute’s bench in Sevilla’s away trip against La Liga surprise package Girona, who sit top of the table.

While Sevilla took an early lead, by time Hannibal was brought on in the 62nd minute, his side were 4-1 down.

Hannibal made an immediate impact, of the wrong sort. He was booked after just one minute on the pitch.

This is entirely on brand for Hannibal, who has become known for his spicy temperament as much as his quality on the ball.

Eager to impress and add a bit of fight to his trailing team, he was shown a yellow card for a foul.

How Hannibal fared on his debut

Sevilla went on to lose the game 5-1, conceding a late goal. It was 1-0 to Girona during Hannibal’s near half an hour on the pitch.

He completed 16 of 19 passes attempted, and created one goalscoring chance. It was a bright cameo.

In total he had 25 touches in 28 minutes, winning two duels, and drawing one foul as well as committing one of his own.

This was a tough introduction to life in La Liga, and it does not get immediately easier. Sevilla next travel to Atletico Madrid this Thursday.
