‘I’m going to them’ - Man Utd legend argues one team must consider move for Jose Mourinho after Roma sacking

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has insisted that one team should consider a move for Jose Mourinho after the former Red Devils boss was sacked by Roma.

Mourinho’s spell at Serie A side Roma came to an end this month, with club legend Daniele De Rossi taking charge at the Stadio Olimpico until the end of the season.

The former Manchester United manager broke his silence and sent a heartfelt message to Roma supporters after his two-and-a-half seasons with the club.

Jose Mourinho was on the verge of tears as he made his exit from the Stadio Olimpico, with the former Roma boss receiving a spine-tingling reception from fans.

The 61-year-old Portuguese manager’s future remains shrouded in mystery, with Mourinho appearing to rule out retirement from football.

Mourinho, who was in charge at Old Trafford for two-and-a-half seasons, has already rejected one lucrative offer that came his way after his sacking from Roma.

Ferdinand on ex-United boss Mourinho

Rio Ferdinand reacted to Jose Mourinho’s dismissal from Roma and previously said that he would take him in a heartbeat for the England head coach role.

Speaking on his VIBE with FIVE show, the former Manchester United defender insisted that the English FA should consider a move for the ‘Special One.’

But Ferdinand added that another name that should be in contention is none other than Jurgen Klopp, who is set to step down as Liverpool manager this summer.

“If I’m England, I’m talking to Klopp now,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“If I’m Klopp, I’m looking at the England squad and thinking I can win the World Cup. England or Barcelona [as options for Klopp].

“The FA have to go and get Klopp or Jose Mourinho.

“If I’m the FA, I’m going to them two guys and say whoever wants it, you go in the ring, have a fight about it and come back to us.”

Could Mourinho work out at England?

England manager Gareth Southgate is set to lead his country to Euro 2024 in Germany this summer, but his long-term future remains unclear.

The 53-year-old is out of contract in December and the Three Lions could be on the hunt for a new manager after the tournament in Germany.

Mourinho has never managed an international team in his legendary career, but the FA is presented with the rare opportunity to snap him up.

The former United manager has enjoyed incredible success in his career so far and hoovered up major silverware at different clubs.

Southgate came within touching distance of silverware for England at Euro 2020, but the Three Lions boss ultimately fell short at the final hurdle against Italy.

With England desperate to secure major silverware for the first time since the 1966 World Cup, Mourinho could be the right man to ensure that happens.
