'It's obvious': Fabrizio Romano on what he knows about Real Madrid interest in Alejandro Garnacho

Fabrizio Romano is calming the fears of Manchester United supporters concerned about reports linking Premier League rising star Alejandro Garnacho with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

As the rumours emerged this week – Alejandro Garnacho reportedly on Real Madrid’s radar – a cold wave of deja vu must have passed over every Red Devils supporter.

Manchester United have been here before, of course. A dazzling young winger lured away by the blinding white shirt of Real Madrid, turning his back on United and spending his prime years in the Spanish capital instead.

As far as Fabrizio Romano is concerned, however, there is no reason to suggest that Garnacho will soon be following in the footsteps of his idol Cristiano Ronaldo, though it would be a surprise if a player of his supreme potential was not on the radar of Europe’s A-listers.

Real Madrid eye another Manchester United raid

“I don’t know anything about Alejandro Garnacho being a concrete target for clubs like Real Madrid and PSG, despite rumours,” Romano tells Caught Offside.

“It’s obvious to link one of the best talents in the world with these clubs but there’s absolutely nothing now. He’s focused on Manchester United and, obviously, United are super happy for him.

“There’s nothing into (those rumours).”

With five goals to his name – with that virtuoso display against Aston Villa and that Goodison Park wonderstrike still fresh in the memory – 19-year-old Alejandro Garnacho has been a bright spark in a rather dark season, the likes of he, Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund giving the Old Trafford faithful some reason to believe that happier times may be somewhere down the line.

Alejandro Garnacho is the future of Manchester United

“United have not been having the best season,” Romano adds. “But, if they can get (Marcus) Rashford back to his best and keep talented young players like Diallo and Garnacho, there could still be a bright future ahead in the next few years.”

Garnacho, who joined United from Real Madrid’s bitter rivals Atletico, only recently signed a contract which could keep him in Manchester until 2028 at least.
