‘It’s crazy’ - Man Utd legend ranks five best Premier League managers of all time

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has ranked the five best Premier League managers of all time, with Sir Alex Ferguson among the names featured.

Rio Ferdinand played the majority of his Manchester United career under Sir Alex Ferguson and enjoyed incredible silverware success at Old Trafford.

Ferguson called it time on his legendary managerial career in 2013, with the Scotsman bowing out of Old Trafford with his 13th Premier League title win.

The 82-year-old iconic Scot, who had five United legends as locker-room leaders at Old Trafford, is widely considered one of the best managers of all time.

Ferguson’s incredible achievements at United included leading the Red Devils to their iconic treble win in 1999 and lifting 38 trophies during his 26-year reign at the club.

Even Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola paid tribute to the United legend and named Ferguson in his top three picks for the best managers of all time.

Ferdinand ranks top five Premier League managers

Speaking on his VIBE with FIVE show, Rio Ferdinand revealed that former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson would be the top pick in his rankings.

The former United defender revealed that City manager Guardiola would be second, while Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho would be tied for third in his rankings.

Finally, Ferdinand’s last pick in his five-man list was none other than Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who will leave Anfield at the end of the season.

“I’m going Fergie, Pep… what Pep’s done is a madness, regardless of what you can say about these issues that are ongoing and whatnot,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“But in terms of creating a team to play mad football and ring out win after win, the points tallies they’ve got, it’s crazy, man.”

Ferdinand later added: “I think Mourinho and Wenger would go side by side for me for different reasons.”

Ferguson still ahead of Guardiola

While Guardiola is considered one of the best managers of all time, the Spaniard is still behind Ferguson for the best Premier League managers of all time.

The ex-Barcelona manager did match a Ferguson feat with City after the Premier League side became the second English team to complete a continental treble.

However, Ferguson’s sheer longevity with United, his ability to rebuild teams and his impressive silverware haul at Old Trafford puts him ahead of Guardiola.

However, Guardiola can make history at the end of this season and achieve a feat Ferguson never did if City are able to lift a fourth consecutive Premier League title.
