Major boost for Manchester United as £64m star pictured in training after he's seen meeting Ratcliffe and Brailsford

Manchester United have received a welcome fitness update ahead of the upcoming FA Cup tie against Wigan Athletic.

The Red Devils are coming off a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest, a game which striker Rasmus Hojlund missed due to illness.

Hojlund was just coming off the back of scoring his first Premier League goal since his £64 million move from Atalanta.

Now he has a chance to score his first FA Cup goal, after returning to fitness.

Hojlund returns to training

Manchester United welcomed Rasmus Hojlund back to full training this week, and the Dane is expected to start the game.

We expect Erik ten Hag to select a strong side, keen to reach the next round of the FA Cup, and with more than a week elapsing since this last game, and another week until the next one.

Hojlund will also be keen to kick on, with the confidence from scoring his first league goal for the club.

Hojlund met Ineos

Rasmus Hojlund was pictured shaking hands with Sir Dave Brailsford this week as investors Ineos conducted their tour of Carrington.

Billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe was also present, with a big smile as he met the Manchester United striker.

Hojlund, 20, is the type of canny investment Ineos may approve of, a young player with high potential, whose transfer value has already risen.

He struck the winning goal for Manchester United against Aston Villa in front of a watching Brailsford on Boxing Day, and supporters want to see him use this to now kick on, and add to his tally of six for the season.
