Gary Neville claims Man United star has to be 'faultless' for the remainder of the season

Gary Neville has claimed that Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has to be ‘faultless’ for the remainder of the season.

This season for Marcus Rashford has been far from faultless with the English forward struggling to reach the heights that he did for Manchester United last campaign where he netted 30 goals for Erik ten Hag’s side.

For Rashford, these last few days have been mired in controversy with the Englishman missing the game against Newport County in the FA Cup and subsequently disciplined by the club.

Similar to last season before a game against Wolves, Rashford had a point to prove and prove he did barely 10 minutes into the game as he fired in a brilliant goal passed Jose Sa.

Neville on Rashford

Speaking on Sky Sports following the 4-3 win for United against Wolves, Gary Neville was full of praise for the Englishman but believes he has to be ‘fautless’ for the remainder of the season.

“I did fear when the story broke at the weekend that it would drag on for months and months and it would be a Jadon Sancho situation,” Neville said.

“I have to say that any chance of that happening (another Sancho situation) has been put to bed. There is no doubt because of him playing in the game and scoring that he has put any chance of this being a protracted saga to bed.

“For the rest of the season, he has to make sure he is faultless and his performances on the pitch can help him relax and refocus for United.”

Rashford back to his best

The English winger looked to be somewhere near his best against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford in the 2-2 draw as he was dovetailing very well with Rasmus Hojlund.

If his off-field antics are the trigger to bring the best out of the academy graduate then this could well be a very successful end to the season for United.

Rashford has just five goals in the Premier League this campaign but if he can reach double figures before the end of the season, then it would have been a great recovery from the 26-year-old.
