Angel Gomes and Lille send instant messages to Leny Yoro as Man Utd transfer confirmed

Two down, how many more to go? That’s not a question that will come to mind immediately for Manchester United fans after the club announced the signing of Leny Yoro from LOSC Lille.

It is not a signing that many United fans expected, with the player showing a clear desire to move to Real Madrid instead.

However, his comments on the move show the Ineos statement of intent and how it worked to swing the deal in their favour.

Furthermore, Dan Ashworth’s comments on Leny Yoro proved why United went hammer and tongs into signing him at any cost if there was even the slightest chance.

Now, his former club Lille have sent Leny Yoro a message, really stressing the huge standing they hold him in over in France.

While it is extremely common, general, in fact, for a selling club to say a goodbye message to their players, it is more special in this case.

That is because Yoro came through the club academy, having been with the Ligue 1 team since the age of 11. It is where he would have dreamed of breaking through as just a kid.

In addition to Lille, former United man, Angel Gomes, who is now a key player at Lille, has also credited Yoro’s rise, saying, “My guy, all the best mon garrrrr” with an overload of emojis.

Lille, on the other hand, were more open and heartfelt since they share a much longer and personal bond with the player and his development into the generational talent he is today.

The caption reads: “LOSC today confirm it has reached an agreement with Manchester United FC for the transfer of Leny Yoro. Pure product of LOSC, so he leaves his training club after seven years under the colors of LOSC.

Leny we are proud of the person and football player you have become. Thank you for everything and have a safe trip on your new adventure in England 👏

Lille will forever be your home.”

Similar legacy challenge at Man United

It is an unfair position to put an 18-year-old in but Leny Yoro is no ordinary teenager. He was already a key member of Lille’s first-team squad, emerging as a leader in a team full of veterans.

His form and potential made him a coveted asset, with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool all registering their interest in him.

Due to the fact that United have effectively gone all-in on this transfer, the pressure to perform from day one on Yoro will be immense.

He is expected to slot straight into the first-team, along with Lisandro Martinez, who will be a good partner to him in the middle of the defence.

While there is a long way to go yet for the teenager, it would still be a bonafide success if Yoro spends a similar amount of time at Old Trafford as well.
