Raphael Varane deal done
Raphael Varane was linked with moves to clubs around the world including David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
However, newly promoted Serie A side Como emerged as the favourites for the Frenchman’s signature.
The deal has now been completed, with Como announcing Varane’s signing.
Como are managed by former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas and he is thrilled to seal Varane’s arrival.
Fabregas said: “Raphael is a special player and his signing is proof of the ambition we have for this club.
“He has won so much in his career and the experience he has gained in two of the best leagues in the world cannot be underestimated.
“I can’t wait to start working with him.”
Varane’s final game for Manchester United
Raphael Varane bowed out on a high for Manchester United by returning from injury to start in the FA Cup Final.
Varane delivered a world class performance to shut out Erling Haaland, renewing his partnership with Lisandro Martinez.
However, a decision had already been taken not to renew his expiring contract, with United getting his expensive wages off the books.
His replacement has already been signed, with French wonderkid Leny Yoro reinforcing the club’s centre-back ranks.
