"I have to..." Fernandes picks out best moment of his Man United career

Bruno Fernandes will go down in Manchester United history as one of its greatest-ever players all things considered.

He came into a struggling team trying to fit in Andreas Pereira as the No. 10 while Paul Pogba was nursing his injury, and since then, his talismanic presence has been a beacon of shining light at Old Trafford.

The team around him might have failed him many times, but his performances, even in defeats, have been a constant, at least in terms of effort and commitment.

He has countless memorable moments at United and as he signs another contract extension, he has picked out his best one yet.

Bruno Fernandes‘ best Man United moment

Fernandes interacted with Sky Sports and was asked to pick the best moment of his Manchester United career so far out of four options.

Obviously, two of those four were the two trophies he won at the club- the Carabao Cup during Erik ten Hag’s first season and the FA Cup during the second.

Getting captaincy of the club and signing for the team rounded up the options and Fernandes was clear from the first minute about his choice.

He lauded his achievement of winning the cups, calling it “amazing”, while saying that captaining the club was his “proudest moment” but ultimately, none of that would be possible without him signing for the club, a move he called his “dream”.

He said: “The choice is pretty easy. Winning the Carabao Cup was amazing. Captaining the club is the proudest moment I have had. Winning the FA Cup was another trophy but none of it would be possible if I didn’t sign for the club so I have to choose that.

“It was the last day of the transfer window in January. It was one of the best days of my career so far, coming to this club, the Premier League. For me, playing for Manchester United was always a dream.”

Fernandes’ choice is inarguable

While Fernandes has given United fans countless memorable moments, it’s impossible to argue with his choice that none of it would have been possible had he not signed.

He remains arguably the best signing United have made post-Sir Alex Ferguson, maintaining his drive and effort levels under every manager and through every upheaval.

The hope is that the contract extension he has signed now under the new ownership regime finally gives him some stability and success his displays have clearly merited ever since he arrived.

It is quite possible that when all is said and done, he still picks signing for the club as his best moment here but the hope would be that the rest of his tenure at the club makes that choice much more difficult by overloading it with many more special moments.
