"Movement is expected..." Romano drops big triple transfer update for Man Utd, Ineos mean business

The pre-season is over and the next competitive fixture is a week away so naturally, the news cycle will be dominated by transfer news.

That is even truer in the case of Manchester United, who feel like they are one domino falling away from completing a lot of business.

The financial concerns and exorbitant demands have left them at the mercy of selling clubs or potentially interested buying parties after securing two players in quick time.

That could be about to change, if Fabrizio Romano’s latest update is any indication…

Fabrizio Romano’s Man United transfer update

Romano appeared on his YouTube channel to talk all things transfer but as always, United dominated the agenda of the day.

They are in the midst of securing three deals, incoming plus outgoing, and the latest update from Romano on this is exciting.

The three deals are- Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui in, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka out. They looked contingent on each other, especially the latter two.

Romano said that “movement is expected” before the end of the week on all three, with the Bayern pair insistent that they only want United.

United have already had a double bid rejected for the pair which caused bemusement in certain circles but Romano said United have told Bayern and the players via the agent that they “will be back”. The video below [United comments start near 5.42].

Meanwhile, Wan-Bissaka‘s case is also gaining pace as West Ham United want to wrap up his signing and will hope for an answer from United in the same time span.

There is also a minor Manuel Ugarte update, where Romano says the player has agreed terms with United for the last two weeks but PSG’s demands make it likely that this goes down to the wire instead of an early resolution.

The aim is clear

The potential timeline of events given by Romano makes one thing clear- United want their squad sorted to a great extent, as much as possible, before the Premier League kicks off.

United play their first game against Fulham on August 16 which is less than two weeks away so the aim is to get a minimum of four players through the door for that one.

Especially because in Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro, they will already be missing two key players through injury.

De Ligt’s signing has likely been accelerated due to Yoro’s injury while Wan-Bissaka’s stance softening on moving to West Ham has accelerated Mazraoui’s situation.

Therefore, United made a bold move by putting up a double bid for the player, making their intentions clear. Ineos have been nothing but ambitious in the market so far, only hamstrung by the financial situation.

If outgoings enable them some room to navigate, don’t expect the window to end with four new players only.
