Gabby Agbonlahor closely watched one Man Utd star vs Tottenham and is convinced he ‘didn’t look interested’ at all

Aston Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted that one Manchester United star ‘did not look like himself’ after Tottenham’s 3-0 Premier League win at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s men were outclassed by Spurs on Sunday and Manchester United failed to fight back against a dominating performance from Tottenham.

Brennan Johnson stunned United in the 3rd minute by firing Spurs into the lead before Dejan Kulusevski doubled Tottenham’s advantage in the second half.

Dominic Solanke put Ange Postecoglou’s men 3-0 up late in the second half at Old Trafford, with Spurs comfortably securing all three Premier League points.

Erik ten Hag’s side have only managed two wins in their opening six Premier League matches, with United languishing in 12th place in the league table.

The 54-year-old United boss is now under immense pressure to turn the tide back in his favour after a disappointing week for the Red Devils.

Ahead of United’s 3-0 defeat to Spurs, the Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw against FC Twente in their Europa League opener at Old Trafford last Wednesday.

Agbonlahor on Man Utd star vs Spurs

Erik ten Hag deployed Joshua Zirkzee as his main striking option against Tottenham, with Bruno Fernandes playing behind the Manchester United summer signing.

Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford supported the attack out on their respective flanks, but United failed to make a meaningful impact against Spurs.

Marcus Rashford came off in the second half for Rasmus Hojlund, while United striker Joshua Zirkzee was subbed off at half-time for Casemiro.

Bruno Fernandes, on the other hand, left the field in the first half after he was sent off by referee Chris Kavanagh for a challenge on James Maddison.

Only Alejandro Garnacho played the full 90 minutes out of the attacking quartet and Gabby Agbonlahor was baffled by the United winger’s overall performance.

“I was watching the first half and Garnacho was just watching [Destiny] Udogie run past him,” he said on talkSPORT.

“I am like, mate, as a winger, you follow the left-back, that’s your man. It was like pass him on, no problem.

“And that’s a young lad who has been amazing since he broke into the Manchester United team, but he was not very good yesterday, didn’t look interested, not himself.”

Ten Hag unhappy with Man Utd’s first half

Speaking after the defeat to Spurs, Ten Hag made his feelings clear that United performed “below the level” he expected from his players in the first half.

“It’s definitely clear but I just said this in this press conference that what I saw in the first 30 minutes, that is below the level what we can expect from a Man United team,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“Even when you concede so early on in the game, a goal, you should stay calm and control the game, control your performance.

“Sticking together and stick to the plan and then you will have a foothold in the game and now you didn’t got this, although, as I said, we had our chances as well.”
