The last 24 hours at Manchester United has been a whirlwind with all eyes now on Ruben Amorim.
Just hours after Erik ten Hag was sacked as Manchester United manager, Ineos were honing in on his potential replacement at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim verbally agreed to join United after the 39-year-old was identified as the top-choice candidate to replace Ten Hag.
Sporting confirmed with a statement on Tuesday afternoon that United plan to pay Ruben Amorim’s release clause and appoint him as manager.
There was some confusion around Amorim’s release clause in his Sporting contract, but it is has now been confirmed that United will pay €10million (£8.3million).
Amorim is now on his way to being appointed United manager, and that is welcome news for one star in particular.
Bruno Fernandes ‘delighted’ by Ruben Amorim interest
United captain Bruno Fernandes has struggled at the start of the season and has not been able to match his usual output when it comes to goals and assists.
On top of his poor performances, Bruno Fernandes let down United this season by receiving two red cards in back-to-back games. His sending off against Tottenham was overturned but Fernandes still went missing when Ten Hag needed him the most.
Fernandes was the first to send a message to Ten Hag after his sacking, with United’s captain sending a heartfelt message to the Dutchman.
But reports suggest that the 30-year-old is more than happy with Amorim being appointed as his replacement
According to Caught Offside, Fernandes is “delighted” with United’s decision to hire Amorim as their next manager.
Fernandes never played under Amorim at Sporting with the Portuguese midfielder joining United in January, two months before Amorim took charge.
But, Fernandes does admire Amorim and was full of praise for his fellow countryman earlier this year.
Bruno Fernandes can thrive under Ruben Amorim
Amorim’s tactics and style of play suggest that United are in for a big change when he takes control at Old Trafford.
He has had huge success with a 3-4-3 or 3-4-2-1 system at Sporting Lisbon and is expected to bring that with him to Manchester.
