BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has revealed his scoreline prediction for Manchester United’s forthcoming Premier League clash against Leicester City at Old Trafford.
Sunday’s Premier League clash will be Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final match in charge of the Red Devils as interim manager.
Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy took over as interim boss after ex-Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag was sacked by the Premier League club last week.
The 48-year-old United legend, who was an assistant manager to Erik ten Hag, has led the club for three matches so far since his Dutch compatriot was dismissed.
Van Nistelrooy’s interim spell will end on the eve of the international break, with Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim set to arrive on 11th November.
United agreed to pay Sporting CP a £9.25m fee after triggering Ruben Amorim’s release clause, with the Portuguese coach signing a deal until June 2027.
The 39-year-old Sporting CP boss has been widely praised for his work at the Portuguese side, including leading the club to two Primeira Liga titles.
Sutton on Man Utd vs Leicester City
Ruud van Nistelrooy kicked off his interim managerial spell at Old Trafford with an encounter against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup last week.
Manchester United secured a convincing 5-2 victory over the Foxes in their round-of-16 tie before going on to draw 1-1 against Chelsea in the Premier League.
Van Nistelrooy’s men returned to winning ways on Thursday evening with their 2-0 victory over Greek side PAOK at Old Trafford.
Speaking in his BBC Sport column, Chris Sutton has revealed that he is backing United to pick up all three points against the Foxes on Sunday.
“Manchester United thrashed Leicester, external in the Carabao Cup at the end of October in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first game as interim manager, but the Foxes had made nine changes from their previous league game,” he said.
“So I am not sure that 5-2 scoreline tells us too much about what will happen here, but I do think United will win again.”

Van Nistelrooy’s long-term future at Old Trafford remains uncertain ahead of Ruben Amorim’s arrival, with the Portuguese bringing in his own coaching staff.
Amorim’s first match in charge of the Red Devils will be on 24th November with their trip to Portman Road for the Premier League encounter with Ipswich Town.
Sutton revealed that Bruno Fernandes is back in his Fantasy Premier League team and the BBC Sport pundit is backing a 2-1 win for United against Leicester City.
“I have put United midfielder Bruno Fernandes back into my Fantasy team,” he continued.
“I should have captained him last week, when he scored a penalty against Chelsea – my assistant [his son Ollie who is the ‘Taylor’ in their Brian Clough and Peter Taylor managerial partnership] told me to do that, but I didn’t listen.”
