Darts star Luke Littler has made his feelings clear on where Manchester United are likely to finish the 2024-25 Premier League season under manager Ruben Amorim.
Ruben Amorim officially arrived at Old Trafford at the start of the November international break and succeeded Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager.
Erik ten Hag was dismissed from United in late October after a disastrous start to the 2024-25 Premier League season, with the Red Devils facing an uphill battle.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was assistant manager to Ten Hag, was briefly installed as interim United manager for four matches before Amorim’s arrival at the Red Devils.
United triggered the £9.25m release clause in Amorim’s Sporting CP contract earlier this month and the 39-year-old Portuguese manager inked a deal until June 2027.
Littler’s Man Utd prediction under Amorim
Ruben Amorim took charge of Manchester United for the first time on the weekend for their first match in the post-November international break.
The Red Devils travelled to Portman Road on Sunday and took the early lead through Marcus Rashford against Premier League side Ipswich Town.
However, Amorim’s men struggled to maintain their superb start and Ipswich Town rallied back into the contest before half-time thanks to Omari Hutchinson’s equaliser.
United and Ipswich played out the second half with neither side unable to break the deadlock, with the Red Devils settling for a point from the contest.
The Red Devils are currently 12th in the Premier League table and have won only four of their 12 league matches in the 2024-25 campaign.
However, Amorim’s side are only six points adrift from the Premier League top four and could still challenge for Champions League qualification for next season.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Luke Littler admitted that he would “take” United finishing “fifth or sixth” in the Premier League this season.
The 17-year-old darts star, who is a United fan, added that the ideal situation for United would be to finish fourth in the Premier League table.
“I’d take fifth or sixth. If not, I’ll take fourth,” he said.
Amorim on Man Utd struggles vs Ipswich
United will now turn their attention to the Europa League and will welcome Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt to Old Trafford on Thursday evening.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Amorim admitted that United “can play in different systems,” despite their struggles against Ipswich.
“It is not a surprise. These are different things,” he said.
“I have to use the names of the players to explain the situation to you guys. I have explained why we had some problems in the first half.
“It was not a problem with the players; it was about me [and my ideas]. I believe we can play in different systems. Sometimes we defended in a 4-4-2 [vs Ipswich].
“We have to play in different systems because nowadays teams change their dynamic.
“I think our structure, the power of this structure, is to change formation in each game.”
