Man United fans in total agreement about Alejandro Garnacho vs Chelsea as Ruben Amorim told 'I hope you're watching'

Alejandro Garnacho was far from his best as Manchester United drew with Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Ruud van Nistelrooy remains unbeaten during his spell as interim manager but he was only able to take one point from his first Premier League match in charge.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring in the second half after converting a penalty won by Rasmus Hojlund, but former United target Moises Caicedo drew Chelsea level and the points were shared in a 1-1 draw.

Goals have been a huge issue for United in the Premier League and the Red Devils struggled going forward once again. Only Southampton and Crystal Palace have scored fewer goals than United’s nine this season.

United need more from their stars up front, and one player in particular was very disappointing against Chelsea.

Alejandro Garnacho’s performance for Man United vs Chelsea

Alejandro Garnacho was excellent against Leicester on Wednesday evening and he kept his spot in the starting lineup for Van Nistelrooy’s second game as interim.

October was a turbulent month for United after the sacking of Ten Hag, but it was actually a fairly successful month for Alejandro Garnacho.

Garnacho made his 100th senior appearance against West Ham and was awarded the Player of the Month award with over half of the fan vote.

He is also United’s top scorer so far this season with six goals and four assists in 2024/25, but Garnacho took his foot off the gas against Chelsea.

The 20-year-old had a match to forget against the Blues. He ended with 42 touches and a pass success rate of 76 percent.

Garnacho only completed one of his four attempted dribbles and missed one big chance. There were a few sighs from supporters at Old Trafford when he wasted a big opportunity when Amad Diallo was one pass away from a chance at goal.

Man United fans slam Alejandro Garnacho display

Garnacho’s disappointing performance caused a storm on social media, with some fans in shock that he lasted the full 90 minutes.

Via X, formerly known as Twitter, supporters made their feelings clear.

One supporter wrote: “We need an experienced player to start before Garnacho, this is the Premier League and not a kick about in the playing field. No one is impressed by a 20-yard shot whizzing over the bar.”

Another posted: “Garnacho has to be the most selfish “winger” you’ll see on a pitch…”

A third criticised Garnacho’s final product, saying “Garnacho’s decision-making in the final 3rd is horrendous.”

One fan claimed: “Worst game I’ve seen from Garnacho” while another said: “Ruud that’s on you. Because why is Garnacho still on?”

With Ruben Amorim set to become United’s head coach, one supporter sent him a message before his arrival: “Amorim I hope you’re watching that distasteful Garnacho performance”.
