Dan Gore far too good for Southampton’s U21 side

The five goals came through Tyler Fletcher, while Dan Gore and Ethan Wheatley both scored one each and Jack Moorhouse grabbed a brace, including the pick of the bunch.

The star of the match for United was Gore, as he also added two assists on top of his excellent goal from the edge of the box.

Gore set Moorhouse up for his first of the game with a brilliant turn in midfield before slipping a through ball in behind the back line, where the 18-year-old took full advantage.

Aside from his goal involvements, Gore showed really promising moments both in and out of possession as he ran the show in the No.8 position for Binnion’s side.

This latest performance makes it clear that Gore is simply too good to be playing U21 football right now, which leaves United’s new kingmaker Jason Wilcox with a big decision to make.

Manchester United must find Gore a suitable loan in January

This time last year, similar conversations were being had around Gore and his readiness for senior football on a regular basis. This ultimately resulted in Gore heading to Port Vale on loan, but it was an absolute disaster for the United youth captain.

The manager who signed Gore left, and the 19-year-old spent almost his entire time on the injury table.

However, since Gore returned from injury earlier this season, he has looked every bit the player he was last year and then some, as he has also developed physically.

Therefore, with Wilcox and Cox likely to be making loan decisions this month ahead of January, it is vital Gore finds somewhere he will play and that suits him.

2025 is shaping up to be a very bright year for Gore.
