Report: Manchester United make first contact for £41.5m attacker, he's already scored 11 goals this season

Manchester United continue to be linked with potential attacking signings and the Italian market may be the focus once again.

Ruben Amorim has a first Manchester derby victory under his belt having beaten Manchester City 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

The new Manchester United boss is still learning about his players after an up-and-down start to life at Old Trafford.

Signing will be expected in 2025 and United will be exploring attacking options – especially amid questions over Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.

Amorim axed Rashford and Garnacho against City, leaving both players out of the matchday squad.

Both Rashford and Garnacho may yet move on in 2025 and United need to have attacking targets in mind to bolster Amorim’s options.

Manchester United make contact for Atalanta star

Reports suggest that United are keen on Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic and another Serie A star is now being linked.

Sky Sports reporter Sacha Tavolieri claims that United are showing a firm interest in signing Atalanta star Ademola Lookman.

It’s stated that United have made contact with Lookman’s representatives ahead of potentially launching a move in 2025.

The problem is that other clubs are also showing similar interest with Chelsea and Liverpool making contact.

Lookman has been in scintillating form this season, smashing 11 goals and five assists in just 18 games across Serie A and the Champions League.

United fans will also remember how Lookman scored a brilliant hat-trick to win the Europa League final last season and ruin Bayer Leverkusen’s perfect season.

The Nigerian international has taken his game to another level and the report claims that he wants a return to the Premier League.

Lookman’s ability to play up front or in an advanced midfield role in a 3-4-3 system – exactly the style Amorim plays – will certainly be appealing to United.

Atalanta want at least €50million (£41.5million) for Lookman, meaning United will have to dig deep for him in 2025.

Ademola Lookman yet another Serie A forward on United’s wish list

United will be looking at many attacking options but it’s certainly interesting to see yet another Serie A forward on the radar.

Rasmus Hojlund joined United from Atalanta in 2023 before Joshua Zirkzee arrived from Bologna last summer.

United now fancy Vlahovic and Lookman, suggesting that more Serie A stars could end up at Old Trafford down the line.

The Italian market is becoming a prominent one for United and it may be an area of focus once again as United consider 2025 arrivals.
