Fabrizio Romano claims Man Utd 'add' exciting attacking talent to transfer targets for Ruben Amorim, he is being 'monitored'

Manchester United have put one player on their “list of options” for a January or summer transfer in a bid to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s squad, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Ruben Amorim arrived at Old Trafford from Sporting CP last November and the 39-year-old Portuguese manager replaced Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager.

Erik ten Hag was axed in late October 2024 after a disastrous start to the 2024-25 campaign, despite United splashing out on a summer spending spree.

Amorim has been left to pick up the pieces for the remainder of the Premier League season after United triggered his £9.25m release clause at Sporting CP.

The United manager has endured a mixed start to life at the Red Devils, with the Premier League club’s form sporadically changing since his appointment.

Amorim’s men currently languish in 13th place in the Premier League table and United are eight points above the relegation zone after 20 matches played.

The former Sporting CP boss is unlikely to mount a challenge for the Premier League top four, with United 13 points adrift from fourth-place Chelsea.

Romano names Man Utd transfer target

Ruben Amorim could have to wait until the summer transfer window before Manchester United release the funds for him to make any major signings.

The United manager has been asked about any potential January transfers arriving and Amorim hinted that it was unlikely the Red Devils would land anyone.

Fabrizio Romano on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has now hinted that United could attempt to sign Dorgeles Nene from RB Salzburg.

He added that RB Salzburg attacking midfielder Dorgeles Nene has been listed as a potential transfer target for January or the summer.

According to Romano, United are ‘monitoring’ the 22-year-old Ivory Coast-born attacker and “initial talks” on a price for Nene “took place.”

The Italian reporter claims that United will “keep working” on the specifics of the price and package for the RB Salzburg before “making [a] decision.”

Who is RB Salzburg’s Dorgeles Nene?

Dorgeles Nene has been with Austrian Bundesliga outfit RB Salzburg since 2021, with the player spending his youth career with Guidars in Mali.

The United target is under contract with RB Salzburg until 2028 after he inked a new deal with the club last September.

Nene has scored 11 times and registered 10 assists in 58 appearances for RB Salzburg and the forward has been capped on the international stage.

The RB Salzburg player has made 20 appearances for the Mali national team since his debut in 2022, including playing and scoring at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2024.
