Manchester United may not be too busy in this January window but one incoming signing for the future is now imminent.
Ruben Amorim is just one part of a long-term project for Ineos at Manchester United.
There has been a clear shift towards planning for the future at Old Trafford.
United paid up to sign Leny Yoro from Lille over the summer, signing one of the top young defenders in Europe.
Ineos already added the likes of James Overy, Samuel Lusale and Chido Obi at development level, showing a commitment for the future.
United aren’t stopping there and having hopefully landed the manager of the future in Amorim, another young signing appears to be imminent.
Manchester United signing poses with Alejandro Garnacho and Lisandro Martinez
Paraguayan left back Diego Leon has been heavily linked with United in recent weeks.
Reports in December highlighted that United were closing in on Leon amid interest from Arsenal.
The Cerro Porteno wonderkid has already played 19 first-team games in Paraguay, scoring twice in the process.
Leon can’t officially join the United squad until he turns 18 but United appear to be striking a deal for the 17-year-old to either return to Cerro Porteno on loan or simply arrive in the summer.
Paraguayan reporter Wilson González Bronce has now taken to social media to share photos of Leon in England.
Leon has posed with United duo Alejandro Garnacho and Lisandro Martinez as he prepares to finalise his move to United.
The Argentinian duo were no doubt happy to welcome their fellow South American to Old Trafford and will be looking to see him shine in the future.
How much are Manchester United paying for Diego Leon?
Fabrizio Romano noted over the weekend that Leon was scheduled to undergo his United medical this week.
Romano added that United’s total deal for Leon could reach $8.5million (£7million).
That is made up of $4million plus $1million in ‘easy add-ons’ and around $3.5million in ‘difficult’ add-ons.
Leon was scheduled to return to Paraguay on Tuesday, so United will hope to have everything cleared from this medical visit.
Leon has been likened to former Real Madrid hero Marcelo and United fans will be looking to see him fulfil that potential at Old Trafford.
