Manchester United’s loanees were in action on Saturday, with some encouraging displays.

This weekend, Ethan Wheatley joined his U21 teammates in League Two by joining Walsall.
The most recent loan exit has been Antony who joined Real Betis officially on Saturday evening.
Here is how the four current loanees fared on Saturday, January 25th.
Ethan Wheatley makes Walsall debut
First up, despite Wheatley only being announced by Walsall on Saturday morning, he made his debut hours later.
Wheatley was a 63rd-minute substitute for the League Two leaders, but he came on to the team 3-0 down.
Due to this, Bradford dominated and Wheatley got just seven touches on the ball. The 19-year-old barely put a foot wrong though which is good for his confidence through the rest of this season.
Wheatley will be hoping for a more successful second game on Tuesday at Fleetwood Town.
Ethan Ennis impressive for Doncaster on first start
Another player in action on Saturday was Ennis, as his Doncaster side beat Harrogate Town 1-0.
Ennis was lauded by his manager Grant McCann upon joining, and he was handed his very first start here on Saturday.
- 72 minutes
- 2 shots
- 13/18 passes completed
- 1 chance created
- 33 touches
- 2/2 dribbles
- 2 recoveries
- 4/8 duels won
Ennis was a constant threat for the Rovers and he seems set to be a starter in his time at the club. It will be exciting to see his progression here.
Joe Hugill looks key for Carlisle
Hugill made his second start, up north for Carlisle and this game resulted in his first win.
Playing the entire 90 minutes, Hugill had a decent game but will be disappointed to not have grabbed his first goal with two chances resulting in 0.49 expected goals.
- 90 minutes
- 2 shots
- 11/14 passes completed
- 1 chance created
- 0.49 expected goals
- 29 touches
- 2/2 tackles won
- 4 clearances
- 11 defensive actions
- 1 recoveries
- 7/15 duels won
Hugill is playing a key role for Carlisle and he’s helping make them a better team. If this continues, the loan could end up being a great success.
In this game, Hugill came up against fellow United loanee Rhys Bennett who had a difficult evening.
Ethan Williams was an unused substitute for Cheltenham.
