Man United now one step closer to signing £50m Premier League star as major domino falls

A new left wing-back is right at the top of Manchester United’s shopping list this month.

While Ruben Amorim expects a quiet January window at Manchester United, there are still a few areas he would love to improve.

Immediately after his first match in charge against Ipswich Town, Amorim wanted a new left wing-back to be signed in January.

It is one area that United have struggled to fill with Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw struggling with injury and Diogo Dalot better suited to the right.

Dalot was superb against Liverpool in the latest 2-2 draw, but as a natural right-footed player, he is still a better fit on the right. One of United’s top targets is Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, and an opportunity has just presented itself.

Man United in race to sign Milos Kerkez in 2025

Kerkez has been superb for Bournemouth this season with three assists in the Premier League. The Cherries are flying high in seventh position and the 21-year-old defender has been one of their standout stars.

That was certainly the case at Old Trafford when Kerkez shined against United during Bournemouth’s 3-0 win last month.

United are heavily linked to Kerkez, who is valued at £50m by Bournemouth this month.

However, there is fierce competition for his signature with Liverpool desperate to sign Kerkez and Chelsea also showing an interest.

Interestingly, Kerkez has changed his agent ahead of the January window which suggests he could be on the move this month.

Bournemouth agree deal for Milos Kerkez replacement

Striking deals is usually difficult in January as clubs don’t want to lose their best players, but Bournemouth’s latest move suggests they are preparing for Kerkez to leave.

As reported by The Times, Julio Soler is set to sign for Bournemouth in a deal worth £11.5million.

The 19-year-old, who plays as a left wing-back for Argentine Primera Division club Lanus, is set to undergo a medical before finalising a move to the south coast.

The report claims Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is still keen to keep hold of Kerkez but in signing Soler the Cherries have a perfect replacement.

It opens the door for United to sign Kerkez this month and potentially beat Liverpool to his signature.
