Manchester United’s most prolific young goalscorer has undergone surgery and faces a spell on the sidelines.
The FA Youth Cup fourth round takes place on Friday night when Manchester United’s young talents take on Preston North End.
United will do so without Gabriele Biancheri, who scored a hat-trick in the last round against Coventry City.
Biancheri faces a spell out on the sidelines with an injury after undergoing surgery.
Gabriel Biancheri injured
Gabriele Biancheri uploaded a picture to his Instagram stories reel showing he had undergone surgery on an unspecified injury.
Biancheri’s arm was pictured in a cast, and he has pledged to be ‘back soon’.
The timing of the injury to Biancheri is a blow, just as academy football was set to resume in 2025.
Young teammate Chido Obi will be expected to step up, he scored two goals in the 5-0 win over Coventry, including a free-kick that Wes Brown compared to Ronaldinho.
United will hope Biancheri will make a recovery to play a role later this season. There is no specified timeline on his recovery, but he may yet play again in 2024-25.
The injury is expected to end any chances of Biancheri heading out on loan this month, however.
Gabriele Biancheri record in 2024/25
Gabriele Biancheri has been on a tear in 2024/25, scoring at a prolific rate for United’s under-18s and under-21s.
He has six goals for the under-21s, and 20 goals for the under-18s. He has also been scoring for Wales’ youth sides.
Biancheri’s goal record has him pushing for a first team call-up, and it is frustrating to see his momentum halted through injury.
The 18-year-old was an instant hit after signing for United from Cardiff in early 2023, scoring on his debut, and he has not looked back.
