Manchester United have been relatively quiet so far in the January transfer window – but one man who has been on the move is Ethan Wheatley.
Wheatley moved to Walsall on loan, who are currently top of League Two in the English football league. The Manchester United academy graduate has gone to get some much-needed game time.
As for incomings at Old Trafford – Patrick Dorgu’s arrival for United looks imminent, whilst United have also raided Arsenal for Ayden Heaven.
Heaven is a player that Wheatley knows well and has praised in the past during his Gunners days.
Ethan Wheatley knows of Ayden Heaven’s abilities
Heaven and Wheatley have played together for England youth sides, and the pair appear to have struck up a friendship even before Heaven was all but confirmed to move from Manchester United.
Heaven took to Instagram in May 2024 to post a picture of himself on international duty, with the caption: ‘Ending 23/24 with a trophy.’
There were numerous replies of praise in the comments, including from Wheatley, who wrote: ‘so good’.
We’d be inclined to agree. Heaven is going to be seriously useful for Ruben Amorim, and was another seriously smart pickup from Ineos.
Heaven may only be a youngster, but he’s made big waves in the footballing world. So much so, he’s recognised by some of the game’s biggest stars.
Declan Rice, Ian Wright and Gary Lineker also have supported Heaven
Heaven made his first-team debut for Arsenal with an appearance from the bench in Mikel Arteta’s EFL Cup win at Preston.
However, he has also been named among the Arsenal substitutes in both the Premier League and the Champions League this season.
After his competitive debut, he posted to Instagram to commemorate the occasion, where huge names such as Ian Wright, Gary Lineker and Declan Rice showed support.
Sadly for them, he won’t be doing it in North London red anymore. Welcome to Manchester United, Ayden Heaven.
