'End the season': Rio Ferdinand reacts to latest Manchester United injury news, Jesse Lingard sends message

Manchester United’s plans ahead of facing Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a major blow with Amad now ruled out.

The saying ‘when it rains, it pours’ has never felt more applicable than with Manchester United right now.

Ruben Amorim at least tasted victory against Leicester City last weekend but his quest for some semblance of consistency has been dented once again.

Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer are all injured and look set to miss Sunday’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, United have now suffered another injury blow ahead of the journey to North London.

Amad has suffered an ankle injury, meaning the United winger is likely to miss the rest of the season.

Amad sends message after Manchester United injury

The Ivorian has been one of United’s few shining lights this season, producing some impressive performances.

Now unlikely to play again until pre-season, Amad’s injury served as a significant blow – especially with United hardly in great form.

Amad has now taken to Instagram to send a heartfelt message to United supporters with his injury now confirmed.

“Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season,” said Amad.

“Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury. I will come back stronger than ever!! Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for,” he added.

Former United ace Jesse Lingard shared his feelings, simply stating ‘speedy recovery king’ alongside a heart emoji.

United talent Ethan Wheatley made his upset clear whilst Fulham defender Calvin Bassey – one of Amad’s former teammates at Rangers – had similar feelings.

United players are no doubt crestfallen at losing Amad and whoever steps up to take his place must really seize it against Tottenham.

Rio Ferdinand on Amad injury blow

United fans are gutted about Amad’s injury and Rio Ferdinand has echoed those sentiments.

The former United defender has taken to social medial to offer a fairly blunt reaction to Amad’s injury.

Ferdinand simply stated ‘end the season now… nice one!’ as United suffer yet another blow.

Ferdinand has been left disappointed with United this season having witnessed so many poor performances – especially at home.

Amad had been one of few United players to come out of the campaign with credit but must now watch the final weeks of the season from the sidelines.

Some may wonder whether Amorim now regrets allowing both Antony and Marcus Rashford to leave the club in January, with United now left to rue losing an attacking threat.
