The transfer saga around Marcus Rashford will be reignited over the summer transfer window.
Manchester United left it until early February, but eventually Marcus Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
Marcus Rashford had made it clear that he wanted to leave, and Ruben Amorim made no attempt to try and reintegrate him into his plans after his bombshell interview with Henry Winter.
The 27-year-old has made a bright start in Birmingham with Unai Emery impressed by Rashford after his first Premier League start for Villa.
But in Rashford’s first interview as a Villa player, he made it clear that he sees this as a “short-term” move. Villa do have a £40m buy option for Rashford, but the United star may fancy a move elsewhere.

Marcus Rashford dreams of joining Barcelona
Before joining Villa, reports claimed that Rashford dreamed of joining Barcelona. The Spanish giants did consider a move, but their financial problems made a deal impossible.
Rashford’s move to Barcelona collapsed, but if he becomes available in the summer their interest could be reignited.
Barcelona are on the lookout for a left winger, but Spanish outlet Sport are reporting that Barca are targeting Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.
Like Rashford, Diaz is eager to play for Barcelona, with his father revealing that he was a boyhood Barca fan.
If the La Liga giants make a move for Diaz, it practically rules out any chances of Rashford arriving at Camp Nou.
Man United must replace Marcus Rashford immediately
Amorim’s forward options at United were reduced over the winter with Rashford and Antony leaving on loan.
Now, Amad Diallo has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, which leaves Amorim with just Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes as his attacking options.
Ironically, United could really use a profile like Rashford at the moment, but he made it blatantly clear that he wanted to leave.
With few options left, Amorim turned to the academy and Chido Obi made his senior debut against Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.

It seems unlikely that Rashford will return and stay at United in the summer, so the club’s top priority will be finding a replacement in the summer. Amorim will need lots more depth at striker and in the two No.10 positions.
United remain interested in Viktor Gyokeres, while Victor Osimhen is also an option.
