Sir Jim Ratcliffe told six-word message over key former Man Utd man after Man City draw, ex-Red Devils star is now ‘done’

Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been told that he should have done one thing at Old Trafford this season after Manchester United’s match against Manchester City.

Manchester United welcomed Manchester City to Old Trafford on Sunday evening and the Manchester derby ended in an uneventful 0-0 Premier League scoreline.

City and United’s respective performances were both met with criticism after the lacklustre final Manchester derby in the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

United were toothless in the final third at Old Trafford and Ruben Amorim’s men had to settle for a Premier League point from their encounter with Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Red Devils only have seven Premier League fixtures remaining this season and United currently languish in 13th place after managing only 10 wins in 31 matches.

Ruben Amorim’s best hope of United securing European football for the 2025-26 season hinges on the remainder of the Red Devils’ Europa League campaign.

Gordon Hill thinks Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe made a mistake after Man Utd’s performance against Manchester City at Old Trafford

Former Manchester United and England player Gordon Hill was not impressed with the forgettable Manchester derby clash on Sunday afternoon.

He took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and claimed Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos should have kept Ruud van Nistelrooy at Old Trafford.

“Should have left Ruud in charge,” Gordon Hill tweeted.

Ruud van Nistelrooy returned to Old Trafford last summer after he was appointed Red Devils assistant manager in Erik ten Hag’s United coaching staff.

However, Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October and club legend Van Nistelrooy was appointed interim Red Devils boss for a four-match spell.

Van Nistelrooy was not retained by Ruben Amorim for his United coaching staff and the 48-year-old United legend was later appointed Leicester City manager.

Hill was also deeply critical of the performances from United and City on the pitch and the former Red Devils player pulled no punches in his assessment.

“You want this type of football, tactical, data s—, well, you can f—— have it, I am done with it,” he tweeted on X.

Ruben Amorim would argue Man Utd are still a work in progress after the Manchester City result at Old Trafford

United manager Amorim admitted that his side can still improve going forward and the Red Devils showed what they could do in his tactical system against City.

“Every player can improve,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“And they are here because they show something in other clubs. So, they have the quality, we have to spend more time with them.

“We are still a team, sometimes, that is more dangerous in transitions and we have to spend more time near the final third to get more opportunities.”

United now travel to France and will resume their Europa League campaign with their first-leg Europa League quarter-final clash against Lyon on Thursday evening.
