Manchester United can win a second Europa League trophy on Wednesday by defeating Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao, Spain.
For the Red Devils, it is the 15th game in the competition in which this struggling side has remained unbeaten, with 10 wins and four draws so far.
Manchester United have found refuge in Europe this season, despite the ongoing domestic struggles. Since Erik ten Hag’s departure, it has been a happy stomping ground for Ruben Amorim and also Ruud van Nistelrooy.
There were some memorable nights along the way, with a dramatic 5-4 win over Lyon at Old Trafford etching a storied night into the United annals.
In the semi-finals, United thrashed Athletic Club 7-1 over two legs, which set up an all-English final clash back in the San Mames against Tottenham.
Now, with the final just around the corner, United in Focus writers have given their predictions for the final on Wednesday…

Manchester United vs Tottenham Europa League final predictions
Dan Coombs
“I have to believe. I predicted United would beat City in the FA Cup Final last season, against the odds, and I won’t be changing my optimism for a final against Tottenham. Our record against them is terrible, it’s been a horrendous season, but something tells me we will pull this one out the bag and get the job done.”
Score: Manchester United 3-1 Spurs

“This game feels like the biggest in a long time for United, with the impact of winning potentially a catalyst to spark the summer needed to fix the squad for next season. Both teams are probably the worst many fans have seen them at in their lifetimes, but on the night at San Mames, I have to go with my heart and say United will pick up a slim victory.
“I expect Spurs to play better and probably score first, before United’s winning tradition comes through to win it from behind with Bruno Fernandes stepping up big for Amorim. Casemiro and Harry Maguire, I also imagine, will be huge, along with Andre Onana redeeming himself after a torrid campaign.
Score: Manchester United 2-1 Spurs

“Paul Scholes said United’s clutch mentality gives them the edge over Spurs by virtue of having the history of European excellence, and for once, he made a lot of sense. United did this last season when they came out of nowhere to win the FA Cup, and a repeat should be seen here.
“Early goal will be key as the team that concedes it is likely to panic, but due to the sheer weight of expectations, I expect Spurs to collapse despite playing well. It’s never wise to bet against Casemiro in a European final!”
Score: Manchester United 2-1 Spurs
Sean Fisher
“I think it goes to extra time, but Manchester United come out on top with a 2-1 win. There are simply more winners in Ruben Amorim’s side than there are in that Tottenham team. Regardless of the poor season United are having, they have a knack for turning up on the big occasions. Amad will be key going forward, and Casemiro loves the big stage, United have enough character to lift the trophy in Bilbao.”
Score: Manchester United 2-1 Spurs (After extra time)
Dale O’Donnell
“Unable to hide the nerves ahead of the Europa League final, I have a feeling Manchester United will do just about enough to get the job done against Tottenham Hotspur. The biggest fear for fans is playing against Premier League opposition because optimism would be in the air had a foreign side reached the final. ABU (anybody but United) pundits will remind us of the fact that Tottenham have beaten United three times this season, but they’ve been equally bad as United this season, if not worse.”
Score: Manchester United 2-1 Spurs
Adnan Riaz
“The 2025 Europa League final is going to be a scrappy affair. Both Manchester United and Tottenham have been in really bad form in the Premier League and I expect it to be a back-and-forth showdown over who can score the most times. However, I am tipping Bruno Fernandes to be the difference-maker here. Man United fans know it; Tottenham fans also know it — and they fear what United’s devastating talisman can do for Ruben Amorim’s men.
“If Bruno Fernandes turns up with the best version of himself — like he has done so many times already this season — I expect United to beat Spurs and clinch the Europa League trophy. I’m backing a 2-1 win on the night for United.”
