How much Marcus Rashford will earn at Barcelona as Man United star agrees pay cut

Marcus Rashford has made financial sacrifices to complete a loan move from Manchester United to Barcelona.

Ruben Amorim outlined five players to sell this summer by telling them not to return to pre-season training, and among the ‘bomb squad’ is Marcus Rashford.

Manchester United have now agreed a loan deal for Rashford with Barcelona, including a buy option to make the deal permanent in 2026.

Rashford has pushed to join Barcelona all summer, and now his dream move will become reality, but only after a staggering wage cut.

Marcus Rashford’s salary on loan at Barcelona

On his current United deal, Rashford earns £300,000 per week, which explains why Ineos are so eager to get him off the books this summer.

Barcelona were not willing to pay £40m for Rashford this summer due to their financial restraints, and they were also not willing to match the wages he is paid in Manchester.

David Ornstein reported that Barcelona are willing to pay the entirety of Rashford’s wages while on loan, but journalist Ben Jacobs has now revealed that it is a much lower figure than what he was earning at United.

Jacobs claims Rashford has agreed to cut his salary to around £8.6m per year (€10m), which the Spanish side were willing to cover. It equates to around £166,000 per week.

It means United will have no financial responsibility over Rashford this season and will hope to collect a fee for him next summer if the buy option is triggered by Barcelona.

When Marcus Rashford can expect to make Barcelona debut

Rashford’s proposed move to Barcelona was announced moments before United’s 0-0 draw with Leeds in pre-season.

Of course, Rashford stayed back in Manchester to continue working on his exit, and now he is expected to travel to Spain to finalise a move.

Assuming the deal is finalised and completed with no hiccups, Rashford should be announced in the next few days.

Rashford is looking forward to playing with Lamine Yamal, and it seems he will only have to wait a few days before potentially joining the Spanish star on the pitch.

Barcelona face Vissel Kobe in Japan on July 27, which is when Rashford could make his debut for the Catalan giants. Their first competitive La Liga match is against Mallorca on August 16.
