Harry Maguire says Man Utd signing will 'cause a lot of problems' in the Premier League, gives warning

Over the past two seasons, suggesting any of Manchester United’s attackers were a nightmare to deal with was not a thing, but that has all changed this summer.

Ruben Amorim has gotten a completely new attacking front three during this transfer window, which is a completely unprecedented move from Manchester United.

While drastic, it was a completely justified move from Ineos, after a worst ever Premier League campaign in which the entire team scored just 44 goals, which is an embarrassing amount.

So United signed two of the league’s best Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, who managed a combined 35 goals in the Premier League last season.

The pair cost £127.5m but bring proven Premier League quality which is long overdue. Meanwhile this double signing was then followed up by United completing a move for Benjamin Sesko, adding one of Europes best young strikers to the mix.

On paper the trio work incredibly well together, and now Harry Maguire has picked out one that he is excited by.

Harry Maguire says that Benjamin Sesko will cause defenders lots of problems

All three of United’s new forwards can score and assist which makes the trio potentially very dangerous for opponents, however, it may take some time before we see this combination at its best.

Now, after a first week in training for Sesko, his new teammate, Maguire, has discussed his thoughts on the new striker.

Maguire picked out Sesko, speaking with club media, as he revealed his impressions of the new number 30 at Old Trafford.

“I haven’t trained with him much yet. He’s very tall. I’m sure he’s going to cause a lot of problems for defenders. He’s still young, and we need to remember that as a club and as fans.

“He has all the qualities to contribute to the team and this club for many years, so we’re going to support him and keep our fingers crossed that he scores lots of goals.”

Maguire is clearly tempering his own and the fans expectations, because of the pressure on Rasmus Hojlund being too much, so he is trying to avoid a repeat of this.

However, Sesko brings a lot more to United, even if he isn’t scoring, which should make his integration and potential goal struggles initially, easier to look beyond.

Benjamin Sesko will improve Manchester United’s defenders

Sesko is in a better position at United to succeed than Hojlund, due primarily to the incredible quality around him at Old Trafford. Sesko will get plenty of opportunities with plenty of creators in the team.

However, Sesko will also benefit United in one previously un-considered reason.

In training, United’s defenders will have to mark Sesko with his speed, strength and athleticism, which will be massively beneficial for them learning against a better quality forwards.

The phrase that ‘a rising tide lifts all boats’ comes to mind, and Sesko will help his defensive teammates in a way that has been lacking.

Sesko will also help set pieces, with Leny Yoro and others having to defend a 6ft 5in striker in the box.
