Anthony Martial is set to become the latest high-profile player to join Liga MX side CF Monterrey, 10 years on from signing a deal that saw him join Manchester United.
After spending nine years at Manchester United, Anthony Martial was released in June 2024.
The French forward suffered with injuries throughout his time at Old Trafford, before Erik ten Hag decided to let him go following the 2023/24 campaign. Martial had offered little to no competition for Rasmus Hojlund, who had just arrived with limited experience from Atalanta.
It was a huge shame that Martial did not reach the heights many expected him to after joining United in 2015 and scoring on his debut against Liverpool at Anfield.
Last summer, Martial signed for AEK Athens as a free agent, but a change in management saw him overlooked in the line-up for the Greek side.
Martial was offered to six Mexican sides ahead of their transfer deadline, which has led to an exciting development for the former United forward.

Anthony Martial set medical at Monterrey
Martial joined the Greek Super League 1 side last summer before scoring nine goals and two assists in 24 games across all competitions.
The writing was on the wall when Martial was left out of Athens’ UEFA Conference League squad.
In the last few hours, Martial has had talks with Mexican outfit PUMAS.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday that Martial is set to complete his medical before joining Monterrey, with Mexican outlet TUDN reporting that the Liga MX will pay £3.3 million to sign the forward from AEK Athens.
Monterrey are the oldest active club in the north of Mexico.
Martial will be joining a dressing room full of experience, with one World Cup winner.
Martial will join Sergio Ramos at Monterrey
Martial will join several high-profile names in Monterrey, including former Real Madrid and Spain defender Sergio Ramos.
The Rayados’ squad also includes former La Liga stars Sergio Canales and Lucas Ocampos.
Martial will become the fifth player in the Monterrey squad to have played for Sevilla following his loan spell at the club in 2022.
Monterrey are currently first in Liga MX after seven matches.
