Cesc Fabregas’ Como side could reportedly rival Serie A clubs like Juventus and Inter Milan in the race to sign one Manchester United star who has ‘growing experience.’
The 38-year-old former Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder took his first steps into management after his brief playing spell with Como came to an end in 2023.
Cesc Fabregas signed for Como when they were in Serie B in 2022 before he hung up his football boots and entered the world of coaching with the Italian side.
The former Arsenal star coached at youth level for Como and Fabregas later served as interim manager for the first team after the sacking of Moreno Longo.
Fabregas’ appointment was made permanent at Como in 2024 and the Spaniard’s project at the club now has one Manchester United first-team star in his eyes.

Cesc Fabregas is keen to land Man Utd striker Joshua Zirkzee for Serie A side Como amid Juventus’ interest
Joshua Zirkzee was subject to fierce interest in the summer and the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan were both linked with the struggling Manchester United striker.
The 24-year-old forward failed to impress in his debut season at Old Trafford, with Joshua Zirkzee netting only seven times in 49 appearances across all competitions.
Zirkzee remained at the Premier League club after the summer window closed, but the Dutchman’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain in the long term.
According to Corriere di Como, there has been ‘talk of a strong’ and ‘lively’ desire from Serie A outfit Como to bring Netherlands international Zirkzee to the club.
The Italian news outlet claims that there is ‘concrete interest’ in the out-of-favour United striker, who left Serie A side Bologna and arrived at Old Trafford in 2024.
Why would Como manager Cesc Fabregas want to sign Juventus-linked Joshua Zirkzee from Man Utd?
Corriere di Como reports that Joshua Zirkzee has been identified as the right profile fit for the type of project that 2010 World Cup winner Fabregas is rolling out.
The publication suggested that Zirkzee could ‘now represent a driving force’ for Fabregas when it comes to the ‘further’ development of his Como squad.
According to reports in Italy, the Netherlands and United striker is seen as having both ‘verve and dynamism’ and it is coupled with his ‘growing experience’ on the pitch as a player.
However, it has been added that it remains unclear if Como could try to sign the Juventus and Inter Milan-linked Zirkzee in January 2026 or wait until next summer.
Zirkzee is under contract with United until 2029 and the former Bologna player has made all four of his appearances in the 2025-26 season from the bench so far.
