A poor start to the season for Manchester United has led to increased pressure on head coach Ruben Amorim.
There are growing concerns over Ruben Amorim as Manchester United’s head coach. That is inevitable when the Red Devils start a new season by picking up four points from four league games, after getting knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
Ineos sanctioned a significant summer transfer spend to help address some of the pre-existing issues that Amorim experienced after arriving from Sporting CP in November. That saw five new signings join United’s first team, including Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
With a contract running until 2027, Ineos are unlikely to rush into any decisions on Amorim, which is how he still has their support following a turbulent first 10 months in charge.
Renowned for the patience they showed previous managers, United fans will continue to rally behind the team and chant Amorim’s name on the terraces, although they are all desperate for results to improve.

Mikaël Silvestre wants Ruben Amorim to be given more time
There is no denying that the jury is still out on Amorim.
The 40-year-old still needs to prove that he is the right man to take United forward.
There are five reported candidates lined up for Amorim’s job if Ineos decide to make a change in the dugout.
It’s also important to acknowledge that Amorim isn’t the only one to blame at United for shortcomings.
After finishing 15th in the Premier League last season, that shouldn’t be too much to ask for.
Even though doubt continues to swirl over Amorim after a poor start to the 2025/26 campaign, former United defender Mikaël Silvestre doesn’t believe a change of management is needed at Old Trafford.
Silvestre, who spent his entire United career playing under Sir Alex Ferguson, believes it’s too early to sack Amorim.
“It’s too early, I think, to draw the line,” Silvestre told United! United! United! “Clearly, for me. There’s still a lot of work to be done. Hopefully, he will be given the time, the support and the players’ commitment to improve.
“You know it’s going to take time to improve, and the question is if we’re going to see improvement in December, in January, because we’ve got to look at that. I think you have to push it to the point that if there’s no immediate danger to be relegated, you give him time to build something and work with the players.
“They will need to get results. They will need to get stuck in. There’s a lot of things which, you put that together and it’s difficult to see the bright side, but you have to be patient and stick with your decision until the point where you say: this is going to work or it’s not going to work. I think it’s too early to make that decision yet.”
Silvestre once raved about Cristiano Ronaldo at United, and he hopes Amorim can become the next Portuguese sensation at the club.
What did Silvestre win at Man Utd?
Following a transfer from Inter Milan in 1999, Silvestre spent nine years at United.
Joining a side that won the treble, one of Silvestre’s reasons for joining the Red Devils was to be successful.
Silvestre won four Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the League Cup during his time at United.
Silvestre also made 361 appearances for United, scoring 10 goals and recording 23 assists.
