How Man United are viewed by Man City chiefs confirms worst nightmare, it's all because of the Glazers

Manchester United used to sit on the throne of English football but that has not been the case over the past decade.

Sir Alex Ferguson promised to knock Liverpool off their perch, and he delivered at Old Trafford by winning 38 trophies, including 13 Premier League trophies, taking the club’s total to a record 20 league titles.

United’s last Premier League title was won under the legendary Scot in 2013, and in the 12 years that have followed, arch-rivals Manchester City and Liverpool have been on top.

United are falling financially behind as well as on the pitch. Ruben Amorim is targeting Premier League glory as United boss, but he has a long project ahead of him to get the Red Devils back to the top.

Man City chiefs are not worried about Man United

When Manchester City were taken over in 2008, they quickly became known as United’s ‘noisy neighbours’.

City have won eight Premier League titles since the takeover, and they have also become a financial powerhouse in European football, although there are 115 charges yet to be settled.

According to the Daily Mail, one source at City said: “United are still our main rivals when it comes to our fans. But when we are in the room with companies and big businesses talking about commercial deals, it’s not United we worry about. It’s Liverpool. That’s the Glazer effect.

“When we started out after our own takeover, we looked at what United did and what they had and copied much of it. We don’t do that now.”

City are no longer trying to copy United’s leadership strategy. In fact, the tables have now turned and it is United using City’s strategies.

The Glazers have neglected United for years and refused to establish a proper footballing structure. Their lack of effort is to blame for City and Liverpool climbing ahead of the Red Devils.

Man United’s plan to return to the top

The Glazers turned United from a dominant force to a laughing stock in the Premier League.

Terrible recruitment strategies, a leaky Old Trafford and a complete lack of footballing structure set United into freefall over the past decade.

There have been significant improvements on those fronts since the Ineos takeover however. Recruitment has improved under Ineos, there are plans to build a 100,000-seater stadium to replace Old Trafford, and United finally have a functional hierarchy.

That includes former City chief Omar Berrada, who was appointed as CEO by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

United’s Project 150 outlines a plan to win the Premier League title by the club’s 150th anniversary in 2028, and that is what Amorim and Co. are currently working towards.

Ineos have also hatched Project 90 to return United to the financial powerhouse leading the way in the Premier League.
